LOS ANGELES – Dodger Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully will be among the distinguished list of broadcasting professionals inducted into the 2008 class of the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame in New York City tomorrow night. The ceremony, hosted by CBS’ Jim Nantz, will be held tomorrow night in Manhattan at the New York Hilton and is the culmination of a selection process by more than 80 industry leaders from national broadcast networks, cable sports networks, leagues, teams, and related organizations.
Going into the HOF alongside Scully will be Marvin Bader (ABC Olympics), Chet Forte (ABC Sports), Curt Gowdy (ABC, CBS, and NBC), Teddy Nathanson (director, NBC Sports), Don Ohlmeyer (ABC and NBC), Val Pinchbeck (NFL), Bob Seiderman (CBS and Fox Sports), and Charlie Steinberg (Ampex and Sony). The Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame, formed in 2007 to honor sports TV industry innovators and leaders, announced its inaugural class last year, which included broadcasting legends such as Roone Arledge, Howard Cosell, Jim McKay, and Ed Sabol.

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) -- The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum announced today that Tony Kubek, an analyst for the NBC “Game of the Week,” the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees for 30 years, has been selected as the 2009 recipient of the Ford C. Frick Award, presented annually for major contributions to baseball broadcasting. Kubek will be honored with the award during Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies on Sunday, July 26, 2009 in Cooperstown, N.Y. Kubek is the first exclusive television analyst to win the Frick Award, which has been presented annually since 1978. Kubek also becomes the first primarily television broadcaster to be honored since Bob Wolff in 1995 and the first Frick Award winner to have called games for a Canadian team.

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – Nine-time All-Star and five-time World Series champion Joe Gordon was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame today by the Veterans Committee. Gordon, who played second base for the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians from 1938-43 and 1946-50, received 10 of a possible 12 votes from the Veterans Committee members who voted on the pre-1943 ballot. That ballot featured players who began their big league careers before 1943. Gordon received votes on 83.3 percent of ballots cast, with at least 75 percent necessary for election. He will be enshrined July 26 at the Induction Ceremony in Cooperstown with any players elected in the Baseball Writers’ Association of America vote, which will be announced Jan. 12.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. December 4, 2008- The College Football Hall of Fame welcomed the 2008 Holiday season with a new 20' Christmas tree that was installed recently on the Hall of Fame's Gridiron Plaza. Donated to the downtown community by 1st Source Bank, The South Bend Clinic, and Downtown South Bend, Inc. (DTSB), the tree will be on display through the New Year.
The College Football Hall of Fame's Gridiron was chosen for the Tree's location because of its close proximity to Santa's House on Michigan Street and Santa's Workshop located inside the College Football Hall of Fame. "DTSB is excited that the Hall is hosting Santa's Workshop this year. We believe it will make the Santa House and Workshop experience more enjoyable for all of the visiting children and their families," said DTSB Executive Director, Marco Mariani.

DALLAS, December 3, 2008 - The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced today that Pacific-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen, Ivy League Executive Director Jeffrey Orleans, and Big East Commissioner Mike Tranghese will be recognized with NFF Legacy Awards during the 2008 NFF Annual Awards Dinner, which will take place Dec. 9 at the Waldorf- Astoria in New York City.
