Tennis Hall of Fame Video Honored by Sports Heritage Association

NEWPORT, RI -- The International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum has announced that the International Sports Heritage Association (ISHA) has chosen the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum as a first-place Communications Awards winner in their Video Presentation category.
 
The International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum’s winning entry is the video presentation that accompanied the 2007 exhibit Breaking the Barriers: The ATA & Black Tennis Pioneers, researched by the Hall of Fame’s museum staff and produced by Harold Hecht.

Bucky Walters Baseball Hall of Fame Vets Finalist

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – Bucky Walters didn’t become a full-time big league pitcher until he was 27 years old. But he quickly made up for the lost time.
 
Now, Walters could take his place with baseball’s all-time greats at the Hall of Fame.
 
Walters (April 19, 1909-April 20, 1991) was an All-Star pitcher who played for the Boston Braves (1931-32, 1950), Boston Red Sox (1933-1934), Philadelphia Phillies (1934-1938) and Cincinnati Reds (1938-1948). Known for his durability and good hitting, Walters spent five years as an infielder before making the change to pitching.

Baseball Hall of Fame to Unveil World Champion Phillies Exhibit

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – Philadelphia Phillies fans waited 28 years between World Championships. But they won’t have to wait any more to celebrate at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

Autumn Glory, the Museum’s exhibit dedicated to the 2008 Major League Baseball postseason, will be officially unveiled at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17. The exhibit will feature treasures from the 2008 postseason, including items from the World Series champion Phillies and the American League champion Tampa Bay Rays.

Baseball Hall of Fame Veterans Committee Considers Carl Mays

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – Carl Mays’ delivery was unorthodox. So were his results. Now, Mays will be considered for another unique honor: election to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee.

Mays (Nov. 12, 1891-April 4, 1971) was one of the top right-handed pitchers in Major League Baseball from 1916-1929. He played for the Boston Red Sox (1915-1919), the New York Yankees (1919-1923), the Cincinnati Reds (1924-1928) and the New York Giants (1929). Over 15 seasons in the majors, Mays posted a 208-126 record with a 2.92 ERA.

Nick Collins Named Packers Hall of Fame Player of the Week

November 13, 2008
For his performance vs. the Minnesota Vikings, safety Nick Collins was chosen as the Packers 'Hall of Fame Featured Player of the Week.' The weekly exhibit contains memorabilia from the game against the Vikings, including a game ball autographed by Collins.

Collins authored a thrilling 59-yard return of an interception for a touchdown in the third quarter. The theft was his career-high fifth pick of the season, matching teammate Charles Woodson's total of five, and also was his third for a touchdown this season, which leads the league. The duo is atop the NFL leaderboard with their five interceptions each.

World Figure Skating Hall of Fame Seeks Nominations

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum To Honor Les Paul

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Case Western Reserve University and Gibson Guitar will honor the extraordinary Les Paul with a weeklong series of events culminating in a retrospective of Paul's life and legacy at Case Western University and an all-star tribute concert at PlayhouseSquare's State Theater. Artists that have been added to the lineup include Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Duane Eddy as well as Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, Eric Carmen, Lonnie Mack, and Katy Moffatt.

The concert will also feature Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees James Burton, Billy Gibbons and the Ventures along with Jennifer Batten, Dennis Coffey, Lenny Kaye, Steve Lukather, Barbara Lynn, Alannah Myles, Richie Sambora and Slash. Purdue Marching Band to Perform at College Football Hall of Fame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - November 5, 2008- The College Football Hall of Fame is pleased to welcome the Purdue University Marching Band as they perform on the Gridiron Plaza this Friday, November 7th at 12:00pm. There is no cost to enjoy the concert and everyone is welcome.
 
Deemed as one of the finest collegiate marching bands in the nation, the Purdue University "All-American" Marching Band first appeared on the West Lafayette campus in 1886. World Golf Hall of Fame Prepares for Induction Ceremony
