BOISE, Idaho – USC athletic director and 1965 Heisman Trophy winner Mike Garrett has been named the 2008 recipient of the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame’s Tradition of Excellence Award.
Co-presented by the Heisman Trophy Trust, the Tradition of Excellence Award recognizes Heisman winners who bring honor and distinction to the Heisman Memorial Trophy through their professional achievements.

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will open an exhibit dedicated to the 2008 World Series and the Philadelphia Phillies’ second World Championship in mid-November in Cooperstown, N.Y. The exhibit will feature a number of treasures donated by members of the Phillies and Rays to represent the 104th Fall Classic. The items received from members of the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies: * Jersey from World Series MVP Cole Hamels worn during Game Five * Bat used by Ryan Howard during Game Four * Spikes worn by Jayson Werth throughout the Series * Cap worn by Eric Bruntlett during home games of the Series * Helmet worn by Carlos Ruiz * Bat used by Joe Blanton for home run in Game Four

The Hockey Hall of Fame will announce tomorrow that Honoured Members Paul Coffey, Jari Kurri and Mark Messier will join former teammate and 2008 Inductee Glenn Anderson for the 2008 Source For Sports Hockey Hall of Fame Legends Classic Game.
The game, featuring a record total of 19 Honoured Members, will be played Sunday, November 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

NEWPORT, RI – The International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum will pay tribute to United States Tennis Association (USTA) President Jane Brown Grimes on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Doubles (located at 783 5th Avenue) in New York. Cocktails begin at 6:30 pm while dinner starts at 7:30 pm. Network-TV tennis announcer Mary Carillo will serve as the event’s Master of Ceremonies. President of the International Tennis Hall of Fame and 1970 Hall of Famer Tony Trabert is the Honorary Chairman of this special tribute. Joining Carillo and Trabert will be U.S. Davis Cup Captain Patrick McEnroe as a featured speaker. Proceeds from the event will benefit the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s Annual Fund.

St. Augustine, FL – The World Golf Hall of Fame is putting the final touches on its 2008 Induction Ceremony plans which include the unveiling of exhibits that honor and celebrate the new Class of Inductees. The Inductee Exhibits will open to the public Saturday, Nov. 8 and the Induction Ceremony will take place Monday, Nov. 10.
The exhibits will feature the inspiring stories from the lives and careers of the 2008 Class: Sir Bob Charles, Pete Dye, Carol Semple Thompson, Denny Shute, Herbert Warren Wind and Craig Wood. Hundreds of artifacts, personal mementos, memorabilia and photos have been gathered over the last several months in preparation for the Induction Ceremony.

HOLYOKE, Mass. - The Volleyball Hall of Fame will induct six volleyball greats into its hallowed halls on October 23 in Holyoke, Mass., the sports' birthplace. The newest induction class consists of Sinan Erdem of Turkey (posthumously), Andrea Giani of Italy, Masae Kasai of Japan, Yuri Poyarkov of the Ukraine, Vladimir Savvine of Russia (posthumously) and Randy Stoklos of the United States. Erdem and Savvine were selected in the official/administrator category, while the remaining four will be enshrined in athlete categories.
