KNOXVILLE, IOWA (June 1, 2008) - Champion drivers Glenn Fitzcharles of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Brent Kaeding of Campbell, California, Earl Wagner of Pleasantville, Iowa, and Kramer Williamson of Palmyra, Pennsylvania; owner/mechanics Bob Hampshire of Findlay, Ohio, and Doug Howells of Hunter, North Dakota; and sanctioning officials Louis “Rusty” Espinoza of Anaheim, California, Dick Jordan of Brownsburg, Indiana, and John Padjen of Roseville, California, took center stage Saturday afternoon, May 31, as they were officially inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville. Emcee Pat Sullivan, with the help of Tom Savage, and a crowd of over 300 guests enjoyed the three-hour ceremony, which honored the exceptional careers of twelve inductees.

The Hall of Champions is working closely with the 2008 San Diego County Fair for the 'Summer of Sport'. The Hall will be loaning out full and partial exhibits for display at the fair. Visitors will be able to view our newly expanded and updated Sports Illustrated exhibit which celebrates the many San Diegans who have graced the cover of Sports Illustrated.

NEWPORT, RI -- The International Tennis Hall of Fame has announced the passing of Hall of Famer Sven Davidson. Inducted into the Hall of Fame last summer alongside Pete Sampras, Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario and Russ Adams, Davidson died yesterday in Arcadia, California of pneumonia. One year ago, Davidson had been diagnosed with initial stage of Alzheimer’s disease. He was 79.

NEWPORT, RI -- The International Tennis Hall of Fame has announced that Boston Businessman and Harvard Alum Peter Palandjian will be a Co-chair of the 2008 Legends Ball. The International Tennis Hall of Fame’s Legends Ball will take place on Friday, September 5 in New York, and is the premier social event during the US Open (August 25-September 7).

COOPERSTOWN, NY—On Sunday, June 1, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, the Fenimore Art Museum, and The Farmers’ Museum will host “Cooperstown Day,” a community-wide celebration in recognition of the residents of the Cooperstown area, by offering complimentary admission to residents and employees. The Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will be open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and the Fenimore and The Farmers’ Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

ONEONTA, NY (May 26, 2008) – Veteran Newark Star-Ledger sports writer Ike Kuhns has been selected to receive the 2008 Colin Jose Media Award. He will be honored during the Induction 2008 Weekend, August 1 – 3. Kuhns served the Northern New Jersey region as a soccer writer from the 60s, and is perhaps best remembered for his coverage of the North American Soccer League’s New York Cosmos. However, his reporting on soccer pre-dates the NASL and included coverage of international soccer at a time when it was virtually unreported in American newspapers.
