Tennis '09 Hall of Famer Monica Seles To Release New Book

NEWPORT, RI  --  Monica Seles, who will be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island on July 11, will be releasing her new book next week. For many it is hard to believe that the glamorous and spectacularly fit former tennis champion once struggled with binge eating and depression.

Ginepri & Querrey Enter Tennis Hall of Fame Championships

NEWPORT, RI – The International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum announced today that ATP World Tour Pros Robby Ginepri and Sam Querrey have entered the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, to be held July 6-12.  

Robby Ginepri will return to Newport, having captured the title here in 2003. Currently at No. 66 in the South African Airways ATP Rankings, Ginepri will be making his fourth overall appearance on the legendary grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Wrapping up 2008, the 26-year-old American finished at No. 51 in the world for the second time in three years. He reached the semifinals at Delray Beach, San Jose and Las Vegas, while also reaching the quarterfinal at Pörtschach (Austria). His first-ever career ATP World Tour title was won in Newport, where, as the fourth seed, he drove through the draw into the final without dropping a set. In the championship final, he met up with Austria’s Jurgen Melzer, splitting sets before rallying to capture the Van Alen Cup 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-1. At Grand Slam events, Ginepri has reached the semifinal at the US Open, and has also reached the fourth rounds at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

Baseball Hall of Fame, American Library Association Partner

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and the American Library Association have teamed up for Season Four of Step Up to the Plate @ your library®. This national program brings together two American classics – libraries and baseball – to promote information literacy and the library as an essential information resource.
 
This national program launches on National Library Week (April 12-18) and encourages people of all ages to use the print and electronic resources available at their library to answer a series of trivia questions designed for their age group (10 and under, 11-13, 14-17 and 18 and over). The questions are inspired by the history and diversity of our National Pastime.

Pro Football Hall of Fame Game Tickets Available

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced that a very limited number of sideline and end zone tickets for the 2009 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game featuring the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills will be made available for sale to the public on Tuesday, April 14.

The August 9, 2009 Hall of Fame Game, televised nationally on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, is scheduled for an 8:00 PM ET start. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling 800-913-9788 beginning at 11:00 a.m. ET on April 14.

Michael Jordan Leads Basketball Hall of Fame '09 Class

DETROIT, MICHIGAN - April 6, 2009 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is pleased to announce that Michael Jordan, David Robinson, Jerry Sloan, John Stockton, and C. Vivian Stringer have been named today as the Enshrinement Class of 2009. The announcement was made at a press conference today in Detroit, Michigan, the site of the 2009 NCAA Final Four. The five-member class is made up of three players who enjoyed lengthy and successful NBA careers and two coaches who dedicated their careers to the Utah Jazz and Rutgers University, respectively. The 2009 induction ceremony will mark the 50th anniversary for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

College Football Hall of Fame To Host Casting Call

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - April 6, 2009- The College Football Hall of Fame is hosting a casting call event to find two actors, one male and one female, between the ages of 7 - 12 to feature in two upcoming television commercials.
 
To be considered, children must attend the casting call at the College Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 18 with his/her parent or guardian.  Doors open at 8 a.m.   Auditions will run until 11 a.m.  Candidates can register the day of the event at the Football Hall of Fame - 111 South St. Joseph Street, South Bend, IN 46601.

Mark Fidrych Heads Polish-American Hall of Fame Class

Former Detroit Tiger rookie sensation Mark Fidrych, long-time UCLA women’s volleyball coach Andy Banachowski,  WBA and IBF boxing champion Bobby Czyz and former Olympic and NCAA swimming champion Joe Verdeur have been elected into the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame.  The election of Fidrych, Banachowski, Czyz, and Verdeur brings the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame roster to 116.  Fidrych and Banachowski were elected from the NPASHF national ballot.  Czyz and Verdeur were selected by the Hall’s Veterans Committee.
