DENVER - The Colorado Sports Hall of Fame will host Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post writer David Maraniss on Thursday, July 31, at 8 a.m. in the DNA lobby (101 W. Colfax Ave.) for a breakfast conversation about his new book "Rome 1960 - The Olympics that Changed the World." Maraniss is the author of the best-selling biographies of Vince Lombardi, Bill Clinton and Roberto Clemente. The event, which costs $15, begins at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast that is followed by an 8:30 a.m. discussion. Rocky Mountain News Web site host Mark Wolf will moderate the event, which is being presented by the Rocky Mountain News and the Colorado Society of Professional Journalists. |

(COOPERSTOWN, NY): Fifty-two Hall of Famers are expected to return to Cooperstown July 25-28 for Induction Weekend at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The returning Hall of Famers will welcome the honorees who were elected last winter by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America and the Veterans Committee as the Class of 2008. |

NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND, USA –The International Tennis Hall of Fame will hold its annual Induction Ceremony on the legendary grass courts in Newport, Rhode Island on Saturday, July 12, 2008. This year’s Class of 2008 will be represented by Michael Chang, one of only three American men to capture the French Open singles title in the last 53 years. Also being inducted are contributors Mark McCormack and Eugene L. Scott, both posthumously. McCormack was a legendary sports executive and the founder of International Management Group (IMG), while Scott was the founder and publisher of the national tennis magazine, Tennis Week.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced that tight end Ben Coates, who played for the team for nine seasons from 1991-99, was elected by Patriots fans as the 13th member of the Patriots Hall of Fame. He becomes the first tight end inducted into The Hall. The Patriots will honor Coates, along with all 12 previous Hall of Famers, in the first enshrinement ceremony at The Hall at Patriot Place Presented by Raytheon this fall. |
