About the Hall of Fame

The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, located in Knoxville, TN, opened in June 1999 with the mission to "Honor the past, celebrate the present, and promote the future" of women's basketball. It is the only facility in the world dedicated to all levels of women's basketball. The 32,000 square foot facility contains the museum, ball court area, Trophies gift shop, Urban Playground party room, and other event rooms.

Whether you are looking for inspiration, education or just plain fun, the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame is the place to find it. From the beautiful setting to the inspiring stories, from the lady-like game of the 1890s to the intensity of the Modern Locker Room, everyone will find something to love at the Hall.

Women's Basketball Hall of Fame
The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame is a 32,000-square foot building that honors the past, celebrates the present and promotes the future of women's basketball.

The interactive museum lets you dig deep into the history of the game, and hear the fascinating tales of its history. Ever wonder what America's greatest coaches say to get their players fired up? Huddle up with our players and hear it all. Then head down to the ball courts, where you can put your game to the test. Shoot some hoops, test your vertical leap and see how fast you can dribble around the timed course.

The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame is the perfect setting for any special event. Even though the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is the most prestigious event that is hosted throughout the year, visitors can use the facility to host private functions as well. The architecture of the Hall of Fame evokes an ambiance perfectly suited for more formal celebrations, such as wedding receptions, proms, formals, and social galas. With it high ceilings, marble flooring and panoramic view of the scenic Tennessee riverfront and downtown Knoxville, the rotunda is an unforgettable location for your event. The Urban Playground, designed like a neighborhood ball court, is a unique and motivational area to hold corporate meetings, birthday parties, or team banquets. The Hall of Fame is decorated for the holidays, making it a fun and festive location for holiday parties.

The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame has become a contributing member of the Knoxville community by supporting Toys for Tots, the Girl Scouts, State Summer Reading Program, Education Programs, among other initiatives. In November 2004, the Hall of Fame began working with our local Marines to host a "Toys for Tots" drive. Employees and visitors donated toys for underprivileged children in the Knoxville area. A large number of Girl Scouts have participated in badge workshops and sleepovers at the Hall over the past six years; however, 100 Knoxville Girl Scouts took part in the national introduction of the new Folic Acid program in September 2004. Sponsored by the March of Dimes, this introductory event was used to teach Girl Scouts and leaders the importance of folic acid and a healthy diet. The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame has increased its support of the State Summer Reading Program in the Summer of 2006. In addition to sending local libraries Fall Youth Passes, the Hall sends staff members to read a sports-related book to their groups. Over 5,500 area youth have participated in education programs over the past two years. The Hall of Fame works with the NCAA and MassMutual Financial Group to host the Fast Break Education Program and Gameface.

The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame is much more than just an interactive museum. We have worked to, not only preserve the history of the game, but to also show our visitors the spirit of champions and become an important part of the local community.
