Washington University Department of Athletics Ranked No. 7 in Hall of Fame Magazine Top-15

St. Louis, Mo., April 17, 2008 - Washington University's Department of Athletics is ranked No. 7 in the Annual Hall of Fame Magazine Top-15 Collegiate Athletic Programs, as announced Thursday by the magazine. The rankings are based on colleges and universities in NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA.

Washington University won national championships in volleyball and men's basketball in 2007-08, and picked up third-place finishes in women's indoor track and field and women's cross country. In addition, the Bears placed fifth in men's soccer, sixth in women's swimming and diving, ninth in women's soccer, 13th in men's swimming and diving and 17th in women's basketball.

Stanford, Texas, Louisiana State, Grand Valley State (Division II) and Southern California make up the top-five, while Ohio State, Washington U., Kansas, Tennessee and California round out the top-10.

Washington U. also sits in first place in the 2007-08 United States Sports Academy Directors' Cup Division III Standings.
