DALLAS - May 28, 2008 - The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame announced today that Grammy award-winning American country music singer-songwriter Travis Tritt will perform in South Bend, Ind., Friday, July 18 at the Morris Performing Arts Center as part of the 2008 Enshrinement Festival.
"Producing a string of platinum albums, Travis Tritt has set the standard in the world of country music," said NFF President & CEO Steven J. Hatchell. "We're excited that he's coming to South Bend as part of the first-class entertainment that will celebrate the careers of college football's greatest legends." Travis Tritt has charted more than 30 singles on the U.S. Billboard "Hot Country Songs" charts, including five hits that went to No. 1 and two that won Grammy Awards.
He debuted with his single release of "Country Club" in 1989, emerging on the country scene with a mix of bluesy Southern rock. His top hits also include "All About to Change," "Help Me Hold On," "Can I Trust You With My Heart," and "Foolish Pride." "We are pleased to partner with the Morris Performing Arts Center as we expand the 2008 Enshrinement schedule," said Hall of Fame Executive Director Lisa Malin.
"We look forward to welcoming country music super-star, Travis Tritt, to South Bend as well as thousands of football and country music fans from across the country." Tritt is a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and he has received the Horizon Award from the Country Music Association in 1991 and a Vocal Event of the Year Award in 1992 for "This One's Gonna Hurt You (For A Long, Long Time)," a duet with Marty Stuart and again in 1993 for "I Don't Need Your Rockin' Chair."
Recently, Tritt co-produced an album called "The Storm" with American Idol judge Randy Jackson, creating a powerhouse collection of songs that emphasize Tritt's singing. The Morris Performing Arts Center, located in the heart of downtown South Bend, is the home of the Broadway Theatre League, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, and the Southold Dance Theater.
