(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – Some of baseball’s greatest players are coming to play in Cooperstown, and fans can watch all the action for free.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will host its annual Fantasy Camp Oct. 1 through Oct. 6 at historic Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, with Hall of Famers George Brett, Phil Niekro, Mike Schmidt and Ozzie Smith each managing a team of lucky campers. Former major leaguers Dave Bergman, Vince Coleman, Von Hayes, Lance Niekro, Jamie Quirk and Jon Warden will serve as coaches for the Fantasy Camp, and games will be played (weather permitting) Oct. 2, 3 and 5 at Doubleday Field.
Nearly 40 Fantasy Campers will participate with the Hall of Famers and former major leaguers, and the games are free and open to the public.
Game schedules are: Oct. 2 – Team Brett vs. Team Niekro, 2 p.m.; Team Schmidt vs. Team Smith, 4:30 p.m. Oct. 3 – Team Brett vs. Team Schmidt, 10 a.m.; Team Niekro vs. Team Smith, 2 p.m. Oct. 5 – Team Niekro vs. Team Schmidt, 10 a.m.; Team Brett vs. Team Smith, 2 p.m.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Museum is open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week. The Museum observes off-season hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from the day after Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. Ticket prices are $16.50 for adults (13 and over), $11 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $6 for juniors (ages 7-12). Members are always admitted free of charge and there is no charge for children 6 years of age or younger.
