The Georgia Radio Hall of Fame inducted its class of 2008 Saturday night at the 2nd Annual Induction Dinner and Awards Event at the Hilton Marietta Conference Center & Resort in Marietta, Georgia. Career Achievement inductees included: Bill Bowick: Columbus radio veteran; The 1977 Atlanta Braves announcers: Skip Caray, Ernie Johnson, and Pete Van Wieren; Gary Corry: Former program director at WQXI and creator of the nationally syndicated character, “Red Neckerson”; Capt. Herb Emory: Longtime WSB Atlanta helicopter traffic reporter and host of a weekly NASCAR show; Red Jones: Former Program Director of WQXI and today, morning host on WKNG in Tallapoosa.; Scott Slade: Host of Atlanta’s Morning News on WSB, consistently rated the number one morning show in Atlanta radio for a decade; Tony Taylor: Former WQXI jock and well known voice talent in Atlanta; and Del Ward: Longtime WMAZ Macon hostess. Dan Mason, President of CBS Radio served as Master of Ceremonies and spoke of the exciting new opportunities that still exit in radio.

The Elmo Ellis Spirit Award honoree is Atlanta’s first radio newsman, Aubrey Morris. The 2008 Founders and Directors award was given to Georgia radio veteran Jack Lenz.

The inductees are nominated and voted on by the membership of The Georgia Radio Hall f Fame, a non profit organization.
