by Jim Weber

Dr. Jack Parker

Dr. Jack Parker

School: Boston University
Sport: Ice Hockey
Season: 36th

Parker enters the 2008-09 season with an overall record of 781-406-97 for a .646 winning percentage. A two time NCAA Coach of the Year, his 781 wins mark the most of any college hockey coach at the same institution, while he ranks second among active coaches in wins and fourth in winning percentage. Parker has reached the 20 win mark in 24 seasons while winning two NCAA titles, four consecutive ECAC crowns, 20 Beanpot and six Hockey East titles. This year's team is currently ranked 3rd in the nation and held the top for a couple weeks. Halpern was named Terriers Executive Director of Athletics in 2002.

Anson Dorrance

Anson Dorrance

School: North Carolina
Sport: Women's Soccer
Season: 30th

Okay, maybe you're heard of Dorrance once or twice. After all, the Tar Heels are the New York Yankees of women's soccer, having won 19 of the 29 overall titles - including a ridiculous nine straight from 1986-94. Now 20-1-1 on the season, the second-ranked Heels are making another run for a national title this year.

Suzanne Yoculan

Suzanne Yoculan

School: Georgia
Sport: Women's Gymnastics
Season: 26th

Known as just "Darth Vader" by her enemies, Yoculan embraces her role as the villain. Similar to the Miami Hurricanes showing up to the 1987 Fiesta Bowl in battle fatigues, Yoculan once had her team travel in all-black just to send a message they meant strictly business. The Gym Dogs have won the last four national titles and nine during her quarter-century reign. Unfortunately, she's not big on Top 10 lists. After being ranked one spot behind Tommy Tuberville on a list of the SEC's Best Coaches, she responded: "How many national championships has he won?" Ouch.

Dr. Jay Martin

Dr. Jay Martin

School: Ohio Wesleyan University
Sport: Men's Soccer
Season: 32nd

Dr. Jay guided his Battling Bishop teams to a 530-104-44 record while reaching the NCAA Division III semifinals seven times, and finished as national runner-up twice in addition to winning the 1998 National Championship. Ohio Wesleyan holds NCAA Division III records with 30 playoff appearances and 49 playoff victories. Martin's tenure at OWU also includes 20 years as the school's Athletic Director and eight years as Lacrosse coach where his teams posted a 104- 34 record.

John Smith

John Smith

School: Oklahoma State
Sport: Wrestling
Season: 18th

So sue me, Smith hasn't coached at OSU for 20 seasons, but factor in two NCAA individual titles, two (of his six) World Championships and one (of his two) Olympic Gold Medals while he was a student at OSU, and that gives him 22 years in Stillwater. One of America's legendary wrestlers, Smith has created another legacy as a coach. His teams have amassed a 266-35-4 record in dual meets and five NCAA championships, including four straight from 2003-2006. Named one of the 100 Greatest Olympians of All Time in 1996, Smith is a member of the FILA, The National Wrestling and The Oklahoma Halls of Fame. And keep your eye on his 11-year old son, Joseph, who is probably pinning kids in the sandbox.
