Baseball Hall of Fame To Announce Frick Award Dec. 9

2009 Recipient of Annual Award for Baseball Broadcasting Excellence To Be Named

WHAT: The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will announce the winner of the 2009 Ford C. Frick Award, presented annually since 1978 for major contributions to baseball broadcasting. The winner will be recognized during the annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on July 26 in Cooperstown, N.Y. WHEN: 2 p.m. (EST), Tuesday, Dec. 9.
WHO: The 10 finalists for the 2009 award are: Billy Berroa, Tom Cheek, Ken Coleman, Dizzy Dean, Jacques Doucet, Lanny Frattare, Tony Kubek, Graham McNamee, Joe Nuxhall and Dave Van Horne. Biographical information on the 10 finalists can be found at www.baseballhall.org. WHERE: The announcement will be made at the Bellagio Ballroom at baseball's Winter Meetings in Las Vegas. Those who are credentialed by Major League Baseball for coverage of the meetings are invited to attend. The announcement will be released simultaneously at www.baseballhall.org.
