DENVER—The fourth annual CHSAA "Championship Saturday" event had the second-highest attendance figure of any high school football event in Colorado high school history, and the highest paid attendance in high school football history.

Presented by the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame and held at INVESCO Field at Mile High on Nov. 29, the high school class 5A and 4A championship games were watched by a crowd of 12,411 second highest in state high school football history.

This marked the fourth consecutive year for both of the state's big school title games to take place at INVESCO Field at Mile High.

Mullen defeated Cherry Creek 20-16 to win the Class 5A title while Wheat Ridge defeated Greeley West by a 35-31 margin to claim the Class 4A title.
Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Board Chairman Bruce Dodge said, "We are thrilled by the growth of this program, which has featured great games, tremendous enthusiasm and the opportunity for the Sports Hall of Fame to make significant monetary contributions to our charitable programs, as well as to CHSAA."

He added, "We certainly look forward to continuing this program in years to come. It is gratifying to all involved to be part of something which benefits high school football and Colorado's prep students to this high level."

Attendance has averaged about 12,000 for each of the first four years of this event.

The Presenting Sponsor for CHSAA Championship Saturday is the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.  Legacy Sponsors are King Soopers / City Market, Wells Fargo, Gatorade, the Denver Newspaper Agency, Western Dairy Association, FSN Rocky Mountain, and INVESCO Field at Mile High.
