ONEONTA, NY (August 16, 2006) – Pub Night, the traditional kick-off event for the National Soccer Hall of Fame Induction Weekend, will take place on Saturday, August 26 at 7:30 PM. "It’s a fun relaxed event," said Hall of Fame Event Manager Pamela Frutiger. "We have soccer on the video wall and it’s a great opportunity for fans to mix with the returning and new Hall of Famers."

The Pub Night is preceded at 7:00 PM by the annual Memorial Service tribute to Hall of Famers and others in the soccer world that have passed away in the last year. "The focus of Induction is, as our Mission Statement reads, Celebrating the History and Honoring the Heroes," Director of Operations Kathryn Dailey said. "To remember those who will no longer be able to attend the annual Induction ceremonies seem to us an appropriate and important part of the celebration. We do invite everyone to join us in remembering the departed."

Tickets for the Pub Night are $15 and can be purchased at the Hall of Fame or by calling 607/432-3351 or toll free at 800/585-FAME.

Induction 2006 will take place on Monday, August 28th at 10:00 AM in the National Soccer Museum The Induction Ceremony is free and open to the public.

Three players and a Builder will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the annual ceremony. National Team stars Alexi Lalas and 2-Time World Champion and Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist Carla Overbeck headline the Class of 2006. The veteran inductee Al Trost was a U.S. National Team captain in the 70s and an NASL All-Star and Builder Philip Anschutz has been a key visionary and investor for Major League Soccer.

The National Soccer Hall of Fame located in Oneonta, N.Y., celebrates the history, honors the heroes and preserves the legacy of soccer in the United States. For more information, log on to soccerhall.org.
