ONEONTA, NY (August 1, 2009) – Burton Haimes and Cherie Tucker of the American Youth Soccer Organization, John Kennedy and Dave Boland of the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association, and Gene Chyzowych and Cliff McCrath of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America were honored tonight at the National Soccer Hall of Fame for extraordinary services and achievements with their respective organizations. Each had been previously been inducted into the organizations’ Hall of Fame and Saturday night’s ceremony provided all the groups an opportunity to honor the valuable contributions of these members of the soccer family.
“The National Soccer Hall of Fame and Museum is proud to house these three Halls of Fame and to provide the venue for the honoring of these important resources for soccer in America,” Hall of Fame President Jonathan Ullman said. “Soccer would be poorer without the valuable contributions of these individuals and the organizations that recognized them tonight.”
Haimes has served multiple volunteer roles for AYSO, including president. Tucker is a former Board member who also served the organizations as its National Executive Director. Boland and Kennedy have refereed literally hundreds of matches, including several collegiate championships games in various divisions. Chyzowych and McCrath have established astounding records as coaches, Chyzowych at Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ, and McCrath primarily at Seattle Pacific University.
The Hall of Fame will induct 5- time MLS champion Jeff Agoos and 2-time World Cup champions Joy Fawcett in ceremonies on Sunday, August 2nd as the concluding event at the Induction 2009 Weekend.
