HOFMAG.com Staff

CANTON, Ohio (November 16, 2006) – Former offensive lineman Bruce Matthews is one of three newly eligible players to make the list of 25 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2007.

Also chosen were Denver Broncos running back Terrell Davis and Minnesota Vikings guard Randall McDaniel.

Matthews, who played for the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, holds the record for most games (296) and seasons (19) by an offensive lineman.

Three other players with ties to Dallas and Houston made the list of 25. They are former Dallas Cowboys defensive end/linebacker Charles Haley, former Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin and ex-Houston Oilers quarterback Ken Stabler.

To be considered for Hall of Fame election, a nominated player must have been retired at least five years. For a non-player, there is no mandatory retirement period, but a coach must be retired before he may be considered. A contributor, who is a nominee who has made outstanding contributions to pro football in capacities other than playing or coaching, may still be active in his pro football career.

The Class of 2007 will be determined February third in Miami – the day before the Super Bowl.
