America's New Love Affair: The Ultimate Experience

More than anything, though, White has been a visionary. Since purchasing the UFC in 2001, along with Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta, the organization has moved from the smallest of venues to sold-out Vegas casinos and Southern California hotbeds. Popularity is at an all-time high as endorsements flow in and stars shine brighter than ever. It's growing and growing. With it, mixed-martial arts have grown. Pride Fighting Championships, the UFC's most formidable competition, just debuted in the Unites States. Organizations like Elite Xtreme Combat and the International Fight League continue to pop up.

A mixed-martial arts revolution is no doubt in full force, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship is waving the flag. Still, it all remains so novel. Just like any fight, nobody knows how it's all going to end. The sport continues to evolve with the UFC usually the trendsetter. More and more fans continue to gravitate toward it, tuning in to be enthralled, to be shocked, to be stunned, and to see three hours of action rather than one main event.

The UFC, like the millennium's new athlete, keeps getting bigger and badder. Perhaps that's the "it" factor. Many desire to be a part of something new, something edgy. That's the UFC - a body that continues to change the definition of itself and a sport. Then again, maybe more and more people are just coming to terms with the fact that everyone likes to watch a good fight. There's nothing new about that.

Either way, millions will be watching for many Saturdays to come.
