HOFMAG.com Staff
UNCASVILLE, Conn. - (January 27, 2007) - The Mohegan Sun gambling and entertainment complex will be the permanent home of the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame. The hall, formed in 2005, recognizes accomplishments of the state's greatest boxers such as the late Willie Pep, Marlon Starling, Louis "Kid" Kaplan, Bat Battalino and others.

The gambling casino's Mohegan Sun Arena has put on boxing matches since 2001. The Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame displays will be placed along the arena's concourse in the summer of 2007.

"We're thrilled to be able to recognize some of our state's greatest athletes and celebrate a sport that has brought many memorable moments to our destination over the years," Mohegan Tribal Chairman Bruce Bozsum said.

Other Connecticut boxers in the hall will include Johnny Duke, "Slapsie" Maxie Rosenbloom, Lou Bogash, John Burns, Manny Liebert, Nathan Mann, Gaspar Ortega and Chico Vejar.
