SOUTH BEND, Ind. - March 14, 2007 - The College Football Hall of Fame's 11th Annual KeyBank Gridiron Legends Luncheon Series will kick off Friday, March 30 when Hall of Famer and current Executive Director of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Grant Teaff, comes to South Bend. Teaff was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001. He coached college football for over 30 years at McMurry, Angelo State, and Baylor. His record for all three schools was 170-151-8. He is the author of five books and has earned national respect for his willingness to address controversial issues facing college football, leading to the betterment of the game.
The Coaches' Trophy©, now a symbol of football supremacy, is presented annually by the AFCA to college football's national champion. In a special presentation, the Gerrits Foundation will be making a generous contribution to the College Football Hall of Fame with the presentation of an official Coaches' Trophy to be put on permanent display. The Gerrits Foundation not only funded the creation of the Waterford Crystal© trophy, but also established a 4-year scholarship award to a student of each winning school. They funded these scholarships through the first eight years of the program. The Gerrits Foundation will also present the Hall with the AFCA's championship trophies for Football Championship Division (formerly Division I-AA), Division II, Division III, and the NAIA. Photo opportunities with The Coaches' Trophy© will be available. The entire KeyBank Gridiron Legends Luncheon Series will be announced in full in the coming weeks. Each event consists of a discussion or question and answer session with the featured speaker, a video presentation and lunch at the College Football Hall of Fame. Attendees have the opportunity to win various prizes and will receive a commemorative gift. All of the luncheons will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tickets for individual luncheons are $35 per person or $270 for a table of eight. Discounts are available for Individual Series Passes (individual pass for all six luncheons) and Table Series Passes (table of eight for all six luncheons).
