(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will host a day-long salute to the 1967 Boston Red Sox on Saturday in Cooperstown, featuring the appearances of former Red Sox players Jim Lonborg and Rico Petrocelli, who will participate in a book signing and a special members-only Voices of the Game Series event. A limited number of tickets remain for the 3 p.m. Voices of the Game featuring the two stars of the Red Sox team.
In the 3 p.m. Voices of the Game discussion hosted by baseball historian Curt Smith, Lonborg and Petrocelli will speak about their lives and careers and one of the most storied seasons in Red Sox history. Tickets to the Voices of the Game program are $10 for adults and $5 for children and must be purchased in advance by calling the Membership department at 607-547-0397. The event includes a photo with Lonborg and Petrocelli. Earlier in the day at 10 a.m., the Red Sox duo will be available to sign copies of Petrocelli's new book, "Rico Petrocelli's Tales from the Impossible Dream Red Sox." As with all Museum book signings, Lonborg and Petrocelli will only sign copies of the Petrocelli's book or the book "The 1967 Impossible Dream Red Sox: Pandemonium on the Field." Autographs are limited to three books per person, and no photos or memorabilia will be permitted. Two other events round out the 1967 Red Sox 40th Anniversary Celebration. At 12 p.m., a two-hour author roundtable and fan forum will feature panelists and SABR members Ron Anderson, Maurice Bouchard, Dan Desrochers, Joanne Hulbert, David Laurila, Bill Nowlin and Saul Wisnia, as they discuss "The 1967 Impossible Dream Red Sox: Pandemonium on the Field." The Red Sox scholars will participate in a lively session regarding the 1967 Red Sox season. Immediately following the program, at 2 p.m., the panelists will be available for a signing of their book, "The 1967 Impossible Dream Red Sox: Pandemonium on the Field," edited by Bill Nowlin. Air dates and times will be announced at a later time. Voices of the Game launched in 2006 as a six-installment series featuring baseball broadcasting legends. The programs are part of the more than 1,000 events held throughout the year at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown. Open seven days a week the year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, the Hall of Fame is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. after Labor Day until Memorial Day Weekend. Summer hours are from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily. Ticket prices are $14.50 for adults (13 and over), $9.50 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $5 for juniors (ages 7-12).
