(COOPERSTOWN, NY) - Forty-eight men and women will experience a lifetime dream, beginning this weekend in Cooperstown at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, with the third annual Hall of Fame Fantasy Camp, to be held October 5-10. Hall of Famers Fergie Jenkins, Phil Niekro, Robin Roberts and Ozzie Smith headline Hall of Fame Fantasy Camp, with each serving as manager of a 12-player team during the six-day dream experience. Former major league stars Bill Atkinson, Dave Bergman, Enos Cabell, Vince Coleman and Jon Warden, along with current major leaguer Lance Niekro, will provide coaching support for Hall of Fame Fantasy Camp.
Though all spots for Hall of Fame Fantasy Camp are reserved, the experience provides fans a unique chance to watch Fantasy Camp games free of charge at Doubleday Field. Following a skills evaluation of all campers Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m., games will be held at the following times throughout the Camp. All games are free of charge and open to the public. Games are expected to last 90-120 minutes each, and Camp participants will be assigned teams following the Saturday morning skills evaluation. Game times and teams for Hall of Fame Fantasy Camp: Saturday, Oct. 6 2-4 p.m. TEAM JENKINS vs. TEAM SMITH 4:30-6 p.m. TEAM NIEKRO vs. TEAM ROBERTS Sunday, Oct. 7 10 a.m. - 12 noon TEAM SMITH vs. TEAM ROBERTS 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. TEAM JENKINS vs. TEAM NIEKRO Monday, Oct. 8 No Games Scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 9 10 a.m. - 12 noon TEAM ROBERTS vs. TEAM JENKINS 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. TEAM SMITH vs. TEAM NIEKRO Hall of Fame Fantasy Camp gives men and women the opportunity to experience a life-long dream in a unique setting by playing games on Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, playing golf at the Leatherstocking Golf Course, staying at the Otesaga Hotel, watching baseball postseason games with Hall of Fame members, and enjoying a behind-the-scenes tour of the Hall of Fame, along with a candlelight dinner in the Museum. Camp participants hail from 14 states. The cost to participate in Hall of Fame Fantasy Camp is $8,495, which includes lodging, participation in the camp, meals and ground transportation. Also during Hall of Fame Fantasy Camp Weekend, Hall of Fame members and the major league coaches will participate in a Legends Series event, open exclusively to Museum Members, on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Hall of Fame's Grandstand Theater. A limited number of tickets for the event remain and are can be purchased for $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 by calling 607-547-0397. Tickets must be reserved in advance for the one-hour discussion and question-and-answer session. This Voices of the Game presentation is open exclusively for Museum members. Open seven days a week the year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, the Hall of Fame is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily until Memorial Day Weekend, when summer hours - 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily - commence and continue through through Labor Day. Ticket prices are $14.50 for adults (13 and over), $9 for seniors (65 and over) and for those holding current memberships in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and AMVets organizations, and $5 for juniors (ages 7-12). Members are always admitted free of charge and there is no charge for children six years of age or younger, active and retired card-carrying military personnel.
